We are thrilled to announce that we have sold our Commercial Tourer to an Australian guy now based in Surrey for his pizza business. Graheme Fox is such a character and we are really excited to follow the progress of his new business. He came to Devon to collect the Tourer with his lovely daughter, Tilly who can be seen in the pictures wearing one of our Lindy Bop 50’s inspired dresses (available on the “shop” pages of our website).

Foxy’s Wood Fired Pizzas

Graheme kindly wrote some words for us to explain the concept behind his new business:

My wood fired pizza business inspiration starts with being a wild Aussie kid growing up Australia bush in the 1960’s & 70’s. With the coming of the bush fire season it was a time of fear due to its uncontrolled destruction of the landscape to both its introduced and native inhabitants.

I have always believed that the bushfire destruction is a good metaphor for a new beginning, new opportunities and adaptability to change which is reflected by how quickly the Australian landscape and its peoples regenerate after such loss.

This is why I’ve decided to start an exciting new food business based around the raw thermal power of cooking on an open wood fire. I’ve always loved cooking outdoors, be it at night on a raging campfire down a dusty outback stock route, camping outdoors with my kids in the English summer or just here in suburban London on a BBQ in the pouring rain!!

The flavours and sensations created from wood fired cooking are near impossible to beat.

So launching later this summer 2016 around London and the Southeast counties will be “foxyswoodfiredpizza” offering a selection of all-time favourite pizzas plus our own mouth-watering specialty pizzas, even some with an Aussie twist.

Our super thin crust pizzas will be baked to perfection for you in our expertly designed and UK built Bushman wood fired oven which cooks at around 450 degrees to give the perfect crisp crust.

 

Graheme spent a long time looking at different vehicles and we are so pleased that he chose Retro Tourer. He will have his oven and kitchen fitted into the back of the Commercial Tourer, enabling him offer a mobile catering service for weddings, parties, anything!

Graheme has now taken the Tourer to Weston Super Mare to be fitted with the oven & kitchen that he requires. He will keep in touch with us so that we can follow his new business. Marion is particulary keen to taste the gluten-free pizzas that he will also be offering…
