Here are the answers to our most frequently asked questions. If your question isn’t answered here, please get in touch. We use a 3rd party to handle our bookings, for full details of the terms and conditions of hire please see their Booking Conditions.
Prices vary by booking length, season and day of the week. Seasons are split into five categories; Low, Low Mid, Mid, Mid High and High. The season calendar defines which dates fall into which season for example November is Low season but Christmas and New Year are mid season.
We sometimes have special offers, which are available to those on our mailing list and our facebook page. Minimum booking length is three nights.
The booking price includes everything you will need to just pick it up and drive off with the exception of bedding. Insurance, breakdown cover, kitchen equipment, cooking gas and much more.
Bedding, cleaning, any other ‘extras’ (see below), insurance and breakdown for travel outside the EU (not everyone wants these so excluding them helps to keep the price low, but they can all be added for an additional cost).
We are happy to supply bedding (duvets, covers, pillows and sheets) and towels for 4 people. We can also supply a small camping table and 2 camping seats. If there is anything else that you need please just ask and we will see what we can do.
YES! Percy comes with specialist comprehensive campervan hirer’s insurance. This will cover up to 3 drivers aged between 25 and 75 at no cost. The excess (maximum you pay in the event of damage) varies depending on the drivers and can be between £750 and £2000 (most hires are £750 see below for details)
We offer the first 3 drivers for free – additional drivers can be added at an extra cost. Unless otherwise stated the insurance covers drivers which meet the following criteria as standard:
Age: between 25 and 75 years young
Nationality*: UK or EU driver’s licenses
Length held: Minimum 2 years
Points*: Up to two minor offenses in the past 5 years is OK (no more than 6 points)
Claims*: No more than 1 claim in the past 5 years
*NOTE: These items are flexible but we will need to refer the driver’s details to the insurer and may require some additional information.
International Drivers from most countries can be covered but the excess is likely to be higher. USA, CA, NZ or AU have always been a yes and often with the standard excess.
The full booking form will ask for all the relevant details but feel free to drop us an email if you have any questions. There is an excess of between £750 and £2000 in the event of any damage to the vehicle. This amount is set by the insurer and is dependant on driver age, convictions, claims and country of issue (for a UK driver with a clean license it will be £750).
Breakdown cover is also included – details will be in the Motorhome.
Each Driver needs the following:
The driver will be liable for the insurance excess in the event of any damage to the vehicle. Anything beyond that is covered by the insurance where a claim can be made. The driver is responsible for getting the contact details of any third parties involved.
Obviously we hope you will take care of our motorhome. Minor damage is likely to be overlooked but please do let us know! We reserve the right to charge you for damage to the interior or exterior, fixtures and fittings.
The insurance excess varies from £750 to £2000 dependent on the insurer used and the drivers being insured. The excess amount will be confirmed once final payment has been received and the driver form filled out. The driver will be liable for part or all of the value of the excess in the event of the vehicle being damaged and or a claim being made.
In the event that no driver was operating the vehicle when the damage occurred the first driver will be named as responsible for the vehicle at that time.
Yes. We have breakdown cover including roadside assistance and recovery. If recovery is required you will be returned with the vehicle to the normal pick-up location for that vehicle.
Yes this is not a problem. You will need to bring the motorhome back in a reasonable condition. A cleaning service is available (see cleaning below) but this does not cover any damage caused during your stay.
Our current insurance does not cover Europe, so no. This is likely to change in the future, so please get in touch if it is something you would be interested in.

No. You pick up the motorhome with a full tank and bring it back the same way. If for any reason you were not able to use a nearby fuel station, we will fill it up for you and you will be charged for the actual fuel price (not £2.50/litre like some companies!) and a small charge for our time. Do please let us know if this has happened so we don’t inadvertently give it to the next customer with a partially empty fuel tank.
Firstly please let the us know ASAP as there might be someone waiting to collect it. In this instance we would offer them a pro rata refund for any delay. We reserve the right to charge you for late return at up to £20 per hour but would always try to avoid this. We can sometimes accommodate later returns if there is no immediate subsequent booking, but wouldn’t be able to confirm that until a couple of days before your return.
Kids love motorhomes and Percy love kids!
If you want to experience the decadence of a valet service you are more than welcome to and it’s only £25. If you don’t, then you simply need to bring the campervan back clean and free from rubbish. Don’t worry about the outside, we’ll be doing that anyway.
Our motorhome has plenty of storage space so feel free to pack your slippers/top hat/snorkelling equipment (kitchen sink is provided). We include most of the basics and a few little extras. We have a detailed list of what it includes as standard so have a peek at those.
