What an awesome weekend in Telford! The show itself was on the Sunday, but as it’s a bit of a drive from North Devon, we decided to head up on the Saturday and turn it into a bit of a mini-break with our 2 daughters. I have an issue with the price of food at motorway service stations, so I made sandwiches and nibbles for us to eat on the way. We stopped at my favourite services – Gloucester Services on the M5 (they remind me of Teletubbie Land!). They have much nicer toilets than most service stations and a great shop selling fabulous goodies, which Buzz thinks is far too “la-de-dah”, but I like to browse around.
After lunch we set off again, heading North past Birmingham to the Telford International Centre, arriving around 3pm. We were met by a calm Alan Heyward who showed Buzz where he could wash the motorhome. The girls and I tidied up inside. The team at VW Bus Magazine T4 & T5 were great and had even bought drip trays for everyone (I guess they must be used to classic VW’s as well as the modern T4’s & T5’s).
Once inside the venue, the girls and I went in search of a hot drink whilst Buzz polished the wheels on the motorhome. The other traders and vehicles on display were also getting set up for Sunday’s show and there was a lovely, relaxed vibe.
We weren’t allowed to sleep in the motorhome overnight, so I had booked a local Premier Inn for us. We treated the girls to a meal out and a game of Ten Pin Bowling, which Buzz of course won. It had been a long day and so we headed off to bed for a good nights sleep before the show the next day.
I had been a bit concerned that not many people would turn up, but how wrong was I?! The 3 rooms were packed. We had a constant stream of people talking to us, looking inside and outside of the motorhome. We even had a visit from some Storm Troopers from Star Wars!
We chatted to so many great people and really enjoyed the show. There were some awesome vehicles on display, live music, skate boarding, roller derby, traders, and half naked people being painted (?!!). We would definitely recommend this show and hope to be back again in 2017.
