Instructions for Percy

We hope the following info helps to make your stay in Percy as easy and enjoyable as possible, please read through these instructions before setting off to familiarise yourselves with the motorhome.

Driving  

PLEASE LET US KNOW IF ANY OF THE WARNING LIGHTS COME ON!

REMEMBER: Percy is much longer than your average car, so obstacles need to be given a much wider birth. Bella is approximately 2.9m (9’ 6”) high and 6m (19’ 8”) long.

  • Percy has a 5-speed manual gear box.
  • Please remember the speed limits – 70mph on motorways, 70mph on dual carriageways and 60mph on A roads (unless marked otherwise)

Diesel

  • Percy drinks Diesel, the nozzle can be opened once passenger door is open
  • You will collect him full, please return him full

Keys

  • VW key for the cab doors and the ignition
  • Small square metal key is for the pedestrian entrance to motorhome
  • Square black key is for the water flap to fill up fresh water from outside
  • Small round black key is for the exterior WC door and storage cupboard

 

Whilst Driving – Storage

  • Do not store heavy items in the fridge door whilst driving as it tends to open when overfilled and on the move.
  • The cutlery drawer may also open whilst driving along. Do not overfill.

Arrival on Site

  • Spend a bit of time parking the motorhome, thinking of which side you would prefer the pedestrian door and making him as level as possible.

Electrics

Plug in the electric mains cable (orange cable) to the site’s electric point (if available) and to the motorhome. The plug on the motorhome is on the driver’s side of the body towards the front, next to the water fill cap. Turn on the habitation equipment on the controller on the wall.

ALWAYS REMEMBER TO DISCONNECT AND PACK AWAY THE ORANGE ELECTRIC MAINS CABLE BEFORE MOVING THE MOTORHOME!

  1. Turn on charger (red switch on fuse box) if and when the leisure battery indicator is low.
  2. Turn on the water pump only at the time when water is needed (ie to flush WC/use wash basin/sink/outside shower point).
  3. The habitation electrics will automatically turn off once the engine is started.
  4. The fridge will come on whilst you are driving and once the habitation controller electric supply is switched on.

 

Habitation Area

  • Both cab seats will spin around to create the lounge area. They must be raised to their highest point before rotating to clear the hand break. There is a lever under the seats at the front, in the middle that needs to be lifted up and then the seats can be spun around.
  • The table can be moved within its bracket to give more room on the double seat.
  • The bed over the cab can be pushed back when not in use. Or it can be used as an additional storage area during the day.
  • Cab thermos window covers (silver screens) are supplied for use at night on the windows without blinds. These windows will create condensation overnight so must be wiped in the morning with the chamois provided.

 

To Make the Double Bed

  1. Lower the table by pulling the lever underneath and placing your weight on the top of the table in the centre and pushing down.
  2. Slide out the seat bases (one towards the table and one towards the door)
  3. Fit the cushions to make up the bed
  4. Need a blanket to hold together – note for Maz
  5. BED MUST NOT BE STOOD ON OR JUMPED ON

Fresh Water

  • To fill fresh water tank, open the black flap on driver’s side next to electric flap. Using the black square key unlock black filler cap and fill until it is about to overflow (easier without a spray nozzle hose!). Replace cap and lock. Put flap back down.

Waste Water

  • To drain waste and fresh tanks, undo grey (waste) and blue (fresh) tap under driver’s side body, drain over floor grate

Using the WC

  • Switch on the water on the EC Control unit so that you are able to flush and wash hands
  • Open the flap for the toilet located at the base of the WC
  • Flush, close flap again.
  • Wash hands
  • Switch water pump off again at the control unit

Emptying the WC Waste

  • The door to the WC cassette is located on the driver’s side of the motorhome at the rear
  • The key to open the door to the cassette is located on your key fob – it is the round black key and it also opens the storage cupboard on passenger side at rear.
  • Open the door and carefully remove the WC cassette.
  • Wheel the cassette over to the appropriate WC emptying station on the site you are staying and pour the liquid out. There is a blue chemical in the WC water.
  • Do not put anything other than toilet paper down the toilet – no nappies or sanitary protection.
  • We advise only using the WC for liquids and avoid solids as this makes it less unpleasant to empty and clean.
  • Remember, once you have emptied the WC, the water tank may need refilling – see instructions above.

 

Gas

The gas will be full when you collect Percy. Please re-fill before you return him. The nearest garage to Braunton that has this facility is the BP at Roundswelll Barnstaple EX31 3RZ.

 

  • Turn regulator off (on side of tank) when not in use or in the Channel Tunnel.
  • There is an isolator for the hob (under seat next to hob).
  • There is an isolator for the boiler next to the boiler (under rear seat)

Oil and Water

If you are taking Percy for more than a week, please check and top up oil and water levels weekly. The bonnet lever is on the driver’s side.

Spare Wheel

To fit spare wheel, centre spigot (alloy ring) needs to be removed from centre of disc and be kept safe till the alloy is refitted. This is to centre the alloy on the hub.

 

MAKE SURE ALL DOORS AND WINDOWS AND ROOF LIGHT ARE CLOSED AND SECURE BEFORE DRIVING OFF AND REMOVE ALL ELECTRIC CABLES!
