Not So Big Wednesday is held in Woolacombe, North Devon as it is local to Retro Tourer and happens to also be one of Europe’s top beaches. A report in the Telelgraph Newspaper in 2016 stated that it was named the UK’s best beach for the second year in a row by TripAdvisor users. Ratings given to the hill-backed stretch of golden sand were higher than those given by reviewers to any other UK beach on the site over a 12-month period.
There is ample parking for motorhomes and campervans, with fabulous views of the ocean and room for a group of friends to sit around and enjoy an evening barbecue, so it is the perfect choice for our annual “Not So Big Wednesday” events.
If the conditions are favourable, Buzz, along with family and friends enjoys a surf at Woolacombe. Body boarding, SUP, surfing, swimming or merely dipping your toes in the sea, whatever takes your fancy.
After splashing about down at the beach, Buzz comes back to the motorhome and lights the BBQ. Keeping it simple, we serve hot dogs with onions and usually ketchup / mustard (so long as Maz remembers to bring it..). We ask guests to bring their own drinks along.
We then gather round, eat, drink, chat and chill out whilst watching the sun set over the Atlantic ocean.
Buzz has always been into his Volkswagens and American Hotrods, so we’re extra happy when people come along in something a little different…
This was our second year organising our “Not So Big Wednesday” social event and we will definitely continue next year. Hope to see you there!
